Otter Newsletter for Week of July 2, 2007
Congratulations, Otters, on your 618.5 to 518.5 victory over Heatherfield on
Saturday. And congratulations and THANK YOU to all of our wonderful parent
volunteers who successfully pulled off our first home meet.
Our next meet is at home this Saturday, July 7, against Halifax/Millersburg, so
we will all follow the same drill as last week. Here we go:
--Swimmers, you should have already signed up to swim. If you haven’t, call Jim
immediately at 867-4918. Be at the pool by 7:15. The meet starts at 8:30.
--Parents. Like last week, we need--
1) Big, strong dads and other helpers to arrive at the pool on Friday night at
7:00 to begin setting up and, eventually, installing the bulkhead. Dads, this
usually ends up being a lot of fun for the men, who often go out to Napoli’s
afterwards.
2) Parents to sign up to work the meet. In addition to the personnel we need at
away meets, we have additional needs for bake sale workers, runners, announcers,
and computer gurus. Sign up on the sheets at practice.
3) Food for the bake sale. If we don’t have it, we can’t sell it, and your kids
can’t eat it. Instead of assigning items to people, we ask you to sign up in a
donation slot on the bake sale “needs sheets” at practice. If you have more than
one child, we appreciate if you sign up for two slots. Even if your child is not
swimming in the meet, your contribution to the bake sale table is expected and
appreciated.
Otter items for sale or pick up:
1) The second batch of team t-shirts, which was delayed in delivery, is now
available for distribution at practice. If you ordered a shirt, please pick it
up or arrange to have someone pick up your order at practice this week. Pam Long
(thanks, Pam!) is in charge.
2) If you swam this winter and did not pick up your team gift at the winter
banquet, come to the bake sale area at our home meets. The gifts will be there.
3) We will have a limited amount of old Otter paraphernalia available for
purchase at our home meets in the bake sale area. These items include bathing
caps and lunch bags for a reasonable cost.
The All-Star Meet is fast approaching. Pam Long is coordinating the sale of meet
t-shirts and sweatshirts. The design is viewable on our website and at practice.
The cost of All-Star t-shirts is $15 ($17 for XXL and XXXL) and $25 ($27) for
hooded sweatshirts. The deadline for ordering for delivery before the All-Star
Meet is Wednesday, July 11. After that date, you will only be able to order
shirts for delivery AFTER the meet. We will have no extra stock to sell on meet
day. Pre-payment by check made out to LVST is required.
Our team banquet/ picnic/ pool fun night is set for Wednesday evening, July 25.
David Gardner is coordinating a slide show presentation for that evening, but he
needs your pictures. Please send digital pictures to David’s email, dmg002@lvc.edu,
or even better, burn him a disk and give it to him.
Ricky Enigk has lost some items at swimming practice. Have you seen them?
According to his mom, he is looking for: A blue Otters swim bag with a blue
towel with sharks on, a navy blue pair of jammers (size 32) with gold stripes
down the side and a gold lion on the back upper right panel and clear (color),
Speedo goggles. The bag was left behind at the A-C pool on Friday, June 22 and
still has not surfaced. If you know where these items are, please see Nicole or
Ricky Enigk at practice.
There were some yummy items at the bake sale last Saturday, and many of you
requested the recipe for Susan Loncar’s rice krispie energy bars. Susan has
provided us with this link for the recipe:
