Otter Newsletter for Week of July 23, 2007
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of our wonderful parents who volunteered their time and talents to pull off a very successful and enjoyable All-Star Meet. We received many, many compliments from visiting teams, and those compliments all belong to the many folks who served selflessly before, during, and after the meet. When we were short-handed in several areas, many people stayed to work extra shifts to make sure things were covered. When we needed folks to work at things they had not signed up to do, many agreed. To all of you who said “yes” when asked to serve your team, thank you. Your kids have watched your example, and they will be better adults for it. Financially, the meet was also a BIG success. Come to the banquet to hear the details.
For those that qualified, Mid-Caps are this Saturday at the Hershey Plaza Pool located just off 322 in Hershey next to the Hershey Library. Detailed directions are available on www.swimmpsl.org. Warm-up times will be available sometime after Wednesday. We will post them on the Otter website as soon as they are available. Good luck to all who will represent our team.
The team banquet is this Wednesday at 6 at the pavilions behind the pool. Bring a covered dish, a dessert, and lawn chairs, as well as any swimming attire your family needs for the traditional post-banquet swim. All-Star qualifiers should arrive at 5:30 for a Daily News photo. We are still collecting donations for a coaches’ gift to be presented at the banquet. See Rachielle Peters or Kris Fox.
Team gifts will be distributed at the banquet. If you cannot attend the banquet, please send someone to get your stuff. We don’t have a great deal of dedicated storage space to keep all the stuff that accumulates from year to year. If you cannot find a designee to pick up your items at the banquet, they will be available the first week of Otter practice in October with a designated board member on the pool deck bleachers. After that, we SELL it at the bake sale table!
It’s been a great season, but it’s not too early to think about the upcoming 2007-2008 winter season. Registration materials will be available soon on the Otter website. Also, we have needs on our winter Otter parents’ board. If you have an interest in serving on the board, please see Lisa Gehenio at the summer banquet.
