Otter Newsletter—Week of July 17th, 2005

Thanks to all of the swimmers and parents who swam and helped in this past Saturday’s meet against Hershey.  Although the Otters were defeated by a strong Hershey team, we appreciate your spirit, effort, and talent.  Results are available on the team website, www.swimotters.org.

Way to go, Otters!  Our team placed second and earned two more team trophies at the Willowood and Middletown Invitationals last week.

This is it . . . the week we’ve all been working for.  (Sorry about that preposition at the end of the sentence.)

--Divisionals:  If you signed up to participate, be at the Palmyra pool on Saturday, July 23.  Warm-ups begin promptly at 7:00 a.m.  The Divisional meet is a qualifier for All-Stars the next day at our pool.  The easiest way to find out if your child has qualified is to show up for All-Star set up Saturday evening.  (See below.)

--All-Stars: 1) Your child will be given a slip of paper this week at practice with your bake sale assignment.  If you do not receive a slip by Wednesday, please call Lisa Alexander at 867-1183.  Your family is expected to contribute to the bake sale even if your child does not swim at the All-Star meet.

                   2) Please be at the pool at 6:00 p.m. for pool set-up on Saturday night.  We need every family’s help to make the set-up process run smoothly.

                   3) In the event your child qualifies for the All-Star Meet, warm-ups for our team begin at 7:00 a.m.

                   4) Even if your child does not qualify for the All-Star Meet, we need you to work a shift.  If you haven’t yet signed up to serve on All-Star day, call Kris Fox at  867-5781 to control your destiny.  Otherwise, she will be calling you with your assignment!

                   5) The very last day to preorder All-Star t-shirts and sweatshirts is Tuesday, July 19th, by 8:30 a.m.  This is the only way to guarantee the availability of your size and item choice for meet day delivery.  Very limited stock will be available on meet day.

Coach’s gifts:            Show your appreciation to the wonderful coaches who invest in our kids.  Kris Fox will be collecting money for coach’s gifts all of this week.  Give it to her personally or place a check in the folder of Hannah and Adam Fox.  You can also catch her at the Divisional Meet.

Otter Outings this week and next:

Golf with the Coaches is Tuesday, July 19 at 5:45 at Yogi’s for 8’s, 10’s, and 12’s.  Golf is the coaches’ treat.  Bring money if you’d like ice cream afterwards.

14’s and Unlimiteds are invited to a pool and volleyball party on Monday, July 25, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the pool.   Please RSVP to Jim or Mary by Friday, July 22.

End-of-Season Awards Banquet is set for Wednesday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the pool pavilions.  Bring a covered dish item and a dessert, as well as lawn chairs.  We will eat, recognize our swimmers, and then swim.
