Otter Newsletter for Week of January 13, 2008

Congratulations, Otters, on your fourth win of the season on Saturday. The final score was 680.5-433.5, and results are viewable on the team website. We are now undefeated as we head into our final dual meet of the season.

Our meet is this Saturday, January 19, at home against the Lower Paxton Aquatic Club Gators. They are also undefeated, so the meet promises to be a great one! To prepare for the meet, please do the following:

--You should have signed up to swim in the meet last week, but, in the event you did not, please do so NOW! Email Jim at jgardner@acschools.org by noon today (January 15) or tell him at practice tonight.

--Plan to arrive at the pool at 7 a.m. on Saturday. Warm-ups will begin at 7:15 sharp. (This is a change from last week’s newsletter.) Senior recognition will begin at 8:15, immediately following LPAC warm-ups. Seniors, please assemble yourselves behind the blocks at 8:10 so that we can begin promptly.

--Timers and officials will meet in the arena at 7:55, so that we can conclude our meeting before the start of Senior Recognition.

--Volunteers (that’s all of us!): Sign up at practice or sign up electronically . . .

To volunteer to officiate, email Kathy Wingert at dkwingert@comcast.net.
To volunteer to time, score, do ribbons, or line up kiddos, email Lisa Alexander at mtndew4me@verizon.net.

A few miscellaneous items . . .
Due to high school and college meets, there are several practice schedule changes in the upcoming months. Be sure to check your paper copies or the complete season calendar now posted on the web.

Weather issue information: In the event of inclement weather, cancellations and postponements will be posted immediately on the team website, www.swimotters.org. This is our fastest and most efficient way of letting everyone know what’s going on. If you do not see anything posted on the home page of the website, you can assume that, at that moment, the event is being held as scheduled. Be sure to refresh your browser if you keep the home page up on your computer. We will also attempt to alert WLBR Radio.

Meet day emergencies: In the event of an emergency the morning of the meet (i.e. My child was up all night barfing and won’t be swimming even though she signed up), call Jim at XXX-XXXX and XXX-XXXX(Check the email version of the newsletter for the phone numbers). In the event you do not speak to him live at either number, call XXX-XXXX(same thing here).

Lost and found: Adam Fox lost a Speedo black, grey and white silicone cap and a pair of clear goggles with dark tinted lenses in the locker room at Saturday’s meet. Brenda Lasher found a last year’s version of the Otter team suit (blue swooshy-girls) and a white towel with a bear on it. If you found or lost any of these items, please see the appropriate people or email dkwingert@comcast.net, and I will pass the word along.
