Otter Newsletter for Week of December 16, 2007

Congratulations, Otters, on your win over Mechanicsburg on Saturday. Results are available on the team website. And THANK YOU to the many parents who stepped in and served as volunteers. There was a tremendous outpouring of selfless volunteerism last week, and the day was filled with substantially less chaos as a result. Thank you to all who served.

Our third meet of the season is this Saturday, December 22, at home against Northern York Aquatic Club. Because our visitors are coming from a substantial distance away, the meet starts at bit later. Swimmers should arrive no later than 7:30 a.m. for 7:45 warm-ups. The meet starts at 9.

This will be a very close meet, and Jim is hoping everyone will make an effort to attend. If you have not let Jim know whether you will or will not attend, please do so immediately. Speak to him at practice tonight, or email him at jgardner@acschools.org by noon today.

If your kids are swimming, you might as well volunteer. To do so, sign up on the sheets at practice or email the following ladies:

To help at the bake sale: Email Deb O’Connor at deb@cleonaonline.com.

To sign up for officiating: Email Kathy Wingert at dkwingert@comcast.net

To sign up for timing, running, announcing, line-up, ribbon sorting, scoring, set up and tear down, etc., email Lisa Alexander at mtndew4me@verizon.net. .

Weather issue information: In the event of inclement weather, cancellations and postponements will be posted immediately on the team website, www.swimotters.org. This is our fastest and most efficient way of letting everyone know what’s going on. If you do not see anything posted on the home page of the website, you can assume that, at that moment, the event is being held as scheduled. Be sure to refresh your browser if you keep the home page up on your computer. We will also attempt to alert WLBR Radio.

Meet day emergencies: In the event of an emergency the morning of the meet (i.e. My child was up all night barfing and won’t be swimming even though she signed up), call Jim at XXX-XXXX. In the event you do not speak to him live at either number, call XXX-XXXX. (Numbers blacked out on website. Please refer to the emailed copy of the newsletter in your inbox.)
