At this point, the postponed meet against Heatherfield is “penciled in” for Sunday morning, July 12. We are still negotiating whether this meet will be indoors at LVC or outdoors at A-C. If the date change means your plans for participating in the meet have changed, see Jim immediately. More details will follow soon.
The Hummelstown Relay Carnival is set for Monday evening, June 29, beginning at 5 p.m. If you signed up to swim last week, plan on arriving at Hummelstown by 3:45. The meet starts at 5. Swimmers who signed up to swim should bring the $5 participation fee to the meet.
The Middletown 10 and under meet (Tuesday, July 7) and the Willowood Invitational (Wednesday, July 8) are just around the corner. To participate, you must sign up by Monday, June 29 at practice or by calling Jim at 270-7012. (Sorry for the short turn around.)
Team pictures are this Wednesday, July 1. Plan on arriving by 8:15 if you want to be included in the team photo. Individual pictures will be available after the team photo has been snapped.
This Saturday’s meet, July 4, is AWAY against Latshmere. Swimmers should arrive by 7:45 a.m. The meet begins at 8:30. Directions to Latshmere, as provided by the host team, are as follows:
Travel west on Route 422/322 to I 83 North. Take I-83 N to exit 48, Union Deposit. At the top of the exit ramp, turn left onto Union Deposit Road. Continue on Union Deposit Road through three traffic lights (to your right, you will pass a Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse, TGI Friday's, and Susquehanna Middle School). Continue to the fourth traffic light at Progress Avenue. After this fourth traffic light, continue straight through the intersection and turn left onto South 32nd Street (32nd Street is the third road after intersection - less than .25 of a mile from Progress Avenue). Proceed one block to Larry Drive. The Club's main entry is located at the intersection of Larry Drive and South 32nd Street.
Driving directions can be accessed online by designating "S 32nd St & Larry Dr, Harrisburg, PA, 17109" as your destination. If you have any problems locating the pool, please call the Latshmere Swim Club at 717-564-3991.
Please note: The Latshmere Swim Club does not have a parking lot. Visiting teams should be aware that only on street parking is available. Please do not block driveways or park too close to intersections.
In preparation for the meet, swimmers should have already signed up with Jim on the master meet list. If you are new and did not sign up (or if your plans have changed since signing up), see Jim at practice or email him at maryjimgardner@verizon.net by Tuesday at the latest. For meet day emergencies ONLY, call 270-7012.
While our volunteer needs are fewer at an away meet, we still need timers, officials, finish judges, ribbon folks, and line up ladies. Please be proactive and volunteer. Sign up on the boards at the pool or email the coordinator in charge RIGHT NOW. If you are willing to time, email Kris Fox at fox1445@comcast.net. The All-Star Meet is fast-approaching, and more details will be forthcoming, but right now, here are the things you need to know. First, the deadline for ads in the program has been extended to July 4. You may bring your ads to the meet and give them to Jess Andrews. Second, we are beginning to collect volunteers for the meet. As you heard in our parents’ meeting on Saturday, every family is expected to serve in some capacity. Sign up on the board by the pool and list your shirt size, as volunteers will receive a free meet shirt! Third, if your swimmers would like to order All-Star shirts for themselves, the form and design will be available at the pool this week. Shirts must be ordered by 8:30 a.m., July 8. Orders must be prepaid. Short sleeve t’s are $15; long sleeve t’s are $20.
